Our client is one of the leading professional services firms in the UK and their Audit Technical Department provides technical advice on financial reporting, audit, assurance, and accounting related aspects of company law and is responsible for the firm’s methodology and guidance in relation to auditing and financial reporting
The department is also involved in the provision of technical training to partners and staff across the firm.  Within this role you will liaise with the Audit Quality Review Team (AQRT) in relation to audit file reviews undertaken as part of AQRT’s annual inspections of the firm.  More generally, you will assist the firm’s development of its audit and assurance methodology and guidance directly, as well as providing assistance to partners and staff in relation to audit and other technical matters.


  • Liaise with the AQRT as part of the audit inspection process
  • Brief and prepare audit teams whose files have been selected for quality control reviews Collate and consider issues arising from quality control reviews both in relation to individual assignments and at the whole firm level
  • Monitor external developments in audit requirements
  • Suggest changes to be made to the firm’s methodology arising as a result of changes in external requirements and the results of both internal and external quality control reviews
  • Monitor external developments in relation to non-audit assurance requirements
  • Provide general technical guidance in relation to audit and other assurance engagements and develop supporting materials
  • Provide specific advice to partners and staff on audit and assurance related issues
  • Requirements 
  • Fully understand International Standards on Auditing (as issued by IAASB as well as UK and Ireland and, going forward, UK)
  • Excellent knowledge of Audit Regulations, and Companies Act 2006 Reasonable understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP is also required Qualified Accountant (ACA/ ACCA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience within an audit role, ideally from a top 20 firm Audit exposure to larger private clients, with experience of listed and public interest entities desirable.
