Compliance and Enforcement Analysts
Glasgow £23,450 - £26,270 OR London £25,750 - £28,875
Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.
As the regulator for the energy sector, Ofgem plays a vital role in protecting consumers – placing their interests at the centre of policy making, and when required, taking action on their behalf. As a Compliance and Enforcement Analyst you will investigate compliance cases to determine whether energy suppliers are meeting their regulatory obligations. You can expect to take on responsibility for a varied portfolio working on high profile issues such as: ensuring suppliers comply with the energy price cap; breaches of regulations in relation to customer service, vulnerable customers or marketing & sales techniques; and investigating serious breaches of licence conditions which could lead to financial penalties. It’s a role that involves considerable stakeholder engagement, the analysis of evidence and data, and drafting reports and recommendations.
It’s likely that you are degree educated, or that you can demonstrate equivalent expertise through practical experience in your career to date. Strong communications skills and the ability to engage a range of stakeholders professionally and consistently will be key. You’ll also need to be well organised and a good project manager – someone who thrives on deadlines, problem solving and can prioritise accordingly. Good analytical skills will also be of real value – enabling you to evaluate topics or problems, and draw on evidence to support sound recommendations. There is plenty of scope for professional development and growth within the team, and you can be assured that your work is having a positive impact on behalf of all energy consumers.
Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:
- Up to 30 days’ annual leave
- Excellent training and development opportunities
- The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
- Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
- Subsidised gym
- Interest free season ticket loan
- Rental deposit scheme
- Perkbox (staff discount scheme)
- Employee Wellbeing Programme.
