Working as a Regulatory Auditor for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as part of the Finance and Compliance team, you would be auditing RICS-registered firms to ensure that they are adhering to our rules and regulations. This would include working with registered surveying firms to assess general financial controls in key risk areas that include the holding of client money, insurance mediation and financial health checks of firms.

These are home-based roles, and we have vacancies in the South and South-West regions. These are permanent positions receiving a salary of between £40K and £45K, depending on experience, an annual car allowance of £5,500 and comprehensive benefits.

In this role you will be responsible for performing regulatory reviews to ensure compliance with: RICS Client Money Protection Scheme and RICS Rules of Conduct; ARMA-Q Charter and Standards Edition 2A; Designated Professional Body Scheme 2018.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Perform audits of compliance with the various standards being reviewed, in accordance with time/quantity targets as agreed, and composing reports of audit findings
  • Attend panel hearings where required
  • Offer constructive guidance and advice in the form of oral and written reports to regulated firms, members and other relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain data integrity of internal systems through accurate, timely updates of the work management system
  • To provide CPD, advice, guidance materials and training on a one to one and group basis to an internal or external audience on matters relating to RICS rules and standards

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Qualified accountant
  • Experience in a previous audit role
  • Experience of risk assessment and the assessment of financial controls
  • Experience of applying investigative, analytical and problem, solving skills to effectively review data, documents and records to draw conclusions and write reports
  • Relevant experience of making evidence and risk based decisions with reference to rules, standards, regulations or legislation
  • IT experience, including using all Microsoft Office programmes and experience of data entry systems
  • Experience of working within a customer/member facing environment
