About The Role

As the second largest Building Society in the UK and the 8th largest lender, we know a thing or two about Savings and Mortgages. The Society has grown significantly over the past decade in particular and now has over 2600 employees and 1.8 million members. The Society is a Which recommended savings provider and we’re proud to be number two in the Times Top 25 Best Big Companies to work for.

Reporting into the Society’s Chief Risk Officer, the Head of Prudential  Risk has overall responsibility for the direction and leadership of the Prudential Risk, Prudential Compliance and Model Risk functions, providing second line of defence independent risk oversight and challenge on the management, control, analysis, reporting and stress testing of the Society’s prudential risks: Liquidity & Funding; Market; Treasury Credit; Regulatory (Prudential); Capital; & Treasury Conduct.

You'll be providing ‘2nd line of defence’ independent risk oversight on the management, control, analysis, and reporting of Model Risk including the provision of Model validation across the Society’s models.

You'll be working effectively and in a positive and co-operative but challenging manner with the ’1st Line’ (e.g. Finance, Treasury, Credit Risk, Products), and leading oversight of prudential compliance and providing input and support into the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and associated governance and processes.

About You

As a highly experienced senior leader, you’ll have an in-depth knowledge of balance sheet risks, ILAAP, ICAAP, CRR, resolution regulation and stress testing and  experience of model design and implementation, risk management oversight and working successfully across functions.

You will be highly credible in front of a senior audience including the Board, Executives, Risk Committees (including Board Risk Committee and ALCO), regulators and third party suppliers, having the ability to engage and manage a wide range of stakeholders, listening and responding to challenges.

You’ll have the ability to inspire and lead a team of talented specialists to deliver outstanding results in line with the Society’s strategic plan.

Company

We really care about recruiting the right people and engaging, rewarding and developing them throughout their journey with us. We pride ourselves on having a diverse workforce that shares a common purpose.

Our journey is an exciting one - founded in 1884, we’re still growing, thriving and protecting the interests of our members. We’re currently the 8th largest lender in the UK, with more than 2,500 employees.

We’re proud to be a building society and part of our vision is to be as simple and straightforward as possible and there are plenty of opportunities to work with us and make things happen.

We’re always looking for talented people to join us. But it’s important that our people aren’t just brilliant at what they do – we need them to share our values and understand that working here is all about putting members first.

You bring the potential - we help you realise it.
It’s the way work should be.
