This an exciting opportunity to join Sunderland City Council as a Compliance Officer, to start ASAP on a 12-month fixed term contract.
As a Compliance Officer, your primary role will be to provide technical support to the Council's Neighbourhood Enforcement and Regulatory Services function. These duties will include activities relating to the regulation of public health standards, environmental protection and enforcement, statutory nuisance, anti-social behaviour, and compliance with housing standards in accordance with legislation and service policy.
This role will undertake enforcement actions as required and you may be expected to provide witness statements and issue fixed penalty notices. The role will involve regular weekend work and you will work on a rota accordingly. Ideally, you will have previous experience of working within an enforcement or customer facing environment and have an ability to act with tact and diplomacy to encourage, advise, and enforce.
