Internal Assurance and Compliance Manager
Starting salary: Expected starting salary is £37,964. A salary up to £43,001 may be available for an exceptional candidate, plus pension and excellent benefits
The ICO is the UK’s independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals.

We are at the forefront of information rights policy development, providing direct advice to the public, and enforcing the UK’s data protection and freedom of information laws. We hold a unique position as a regulator across the whole of the private, public and third sectors.
About the role
Our Planning, Risk and Governance directorate is responsible for making sure the ICO has the right governance, planning, risk management and compliance approaches in place. We support the ICO, and in particular senior colleagues across the organisation, to make well informed, transparent and compliant decisions, prioritising effectively. We provide oversight and assurance and make sure we support the ICO’s role as a regulator, public body and employer. We are expanding our team, and a vacancy has arisen in our Corporate Governance team for an Internal Assurance and Compliance Manager.
You will need to be an experienced compliance and assurance professional with a proven track record in delivering a work programme to give assurance on compliance across an organisation. You will have experience in developing a programme of assurance and compliance work, identifying priority areas, developing and agreeing action plans and following up on progress. You will work closely with other teams to support new initiatives and projects to make sure compliance is considered from initiation as well undertaking specific projects on compliance risks to develop an overall picture of compliance across the organisation.
You will be a team player, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders, and have the ambition to drive forward a programme of work. You will need to be able to influence those you work with and develop proportionate and effective solutions.

If you are appointed to work with the ICO you will be required to complete security clearance processes. These include identity and qualification checks and a Basic Disclosure level check of unspent criminal convictions.
