Senior Compliance Analyst (Insurance)

Main purpose of job:

To support the Compliance team in its day-to-day activities in support of the business and wider group, assisting in the delivery of the annual compliance plan (including associated monitoring and reporting) and in the provision of information and assurance regarding compliance with relevant regulation.

Key tasks

  • Support the delivery of the compliance plan including advisory, monitoring, reporting and regulatory affairs activities.
  • Review and analyse/report on regulatory changes.
  • Monitor the conduct risk exposure. This includes managing the Product Universe information, providing advice to Underwriters about the completion of Conduct Risk assessment, dealing with Conduct Risk referrals from underwriters or other areas of the business and ensuring conduct risk profiles are kept up to date.
  • Support in the delivery of compliance monitoring activity.
  • Review and report monthly on the performance of each underwriting team (against a sample basis of slips) in meeting contract certainty and licensing standards.
  • Provide sanctions and financial crime support to the underwriters and other areas of the business by giving advice, monitoring developments affecting the business, and monitoring the operation of the relevant screening tools.
  • Monitor and report on the underwriting system compliance data validations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of both the Document Repository and Business Tasks Timetable.
  • Assist in compliance communications to the business, including meetings and bulletins/updates. Provide appropriate advice as necessary. 
  • Assist in the delivery of both online and face-to-face compliance training within the business.
  • Assist in embedding compliance processes across the business
  • Assist in the review of compliance policies and procedures annually and develop new policies/ procedures where necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory returns.
  • Provide additional company secretarial support to the Company Secretary where necessary.

  • Ability to form good working relationships and work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility with the ability to apply a compliance perspective to complex operational situations.
  • Displays initiative and an ability to work without close supervision.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required

  • Broad knowledge of UK insurance regulation, with at least three years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the Lloyd’s/London Market.
  • Experience of using regulatory knowledge in an insurance business
  • Experience in sanctions and/or Conduct Risk.
  • Degree level education or equivalent. 
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
