Statutory Accountant job for a leading US listed life sciences company based in Watford paying £45,000-£55,000


Your new company

You'll be working for a leading US Listed Life Sciences company a worldwide presence involved in the full product development and manufacturing cycle creating innovative products to improve healthcare.


Your new role

You'll be working as an Accounting in the statutory finance team and will primarily support external auditors. Your duties will include;

  • Support the statutory audit process by preparing the audit files, dealing with audit queries and preparing any requested reconciliations and schedules based on the requests from the external auditor, in close cooperation with the Regional Statutory Compliance Manager.
  • Add value to audits, explain financial data, key KPIs and year on year variances.
  • Work with the Regional Statutory Compliance Manager and other departments in finance to understand the transfer pricing models in place, as well as any other group arrangements to help support the audit process.
  • Work with service providers to prepare and file statutory financial statements & relevant tax filings for entities across a number of EMEA jurisdictions, including any other tax filings relevant to the jurisdiction.
  • Assist the Regional Statutory Compliance Manager and work with the USGAAP accounting team to maintain GAAP to GAAP reconciliations. Ensure all statutory adjustments are reflected appropriately within SAP.
  • With the help of the Regional Statutory Compliance Manager, document and maintain an understanding of the statutory requirements for the countries within your responsibility.
  • Add value to the statutory and tax team by making recommendations on how to improve current processes concerning audit and compliance, to create efficiencies and improve the audit process.
  • Add value to the statutory and tax team by collaborating with other finance departments to refine current processes and drive further efficiencies. Seek ways to standardise documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain compliance calendars. Use the calendars to complete monthly tasks such as statistical reporting, WHT submissions and any other tax submissions. Ensure workings are documented for the Regional Statutory Compliance Manager review.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the tax GL accounts. Prepare and post any tax related journals as required.
  • Support the preparation of the quarterly tax reporting packs for US Group reporting by collating accounting information and supporting the Regional Statutory Compliance Manager with the analysis of timing/permanent differences.
  • Initiate and prepare regular CIT and other tax payments for manager approval.
  • Support Corporate income tax audits as they occur in the countries in the region.
  • Support ad hoc projects as appropriate


What you'll need to succeed

You'll need to be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent) and have extensive audit experience within a large practice with experience auditing £1bn multi-national companies.
